Turkish lira deposit rates fall to 36.4%

According to data from the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (CBRT), interest rates on Turkish lira deposits and commercial loans continued to decline.

During the week ending October 9, the average simple interest rate on Turkish lira deposits with maturities of one to three months fell to 36.4%, while commercial loan rates stood at 39%. The CBRT's weighted average funding cost also declined to 37%.

Interest rates, which ranged between 45% and 48% in early 2025, have fallen to the 36%–39% range following recent declines. Commercial loan rate figures exclude overdraft accounts and commercial credit cards. The data indicate that both deposit returns and borrowing costs are trending downward across Türkiye's banking sector.
