Tokyo core inflation eases to 2.6%
Tokyo's annual core consumer inflation slowed to 2.6% in October, according to figures released on October 30.
The result matched the 2.6% forecast and declined from 2.7% in September. Inflation excluding both fresh food and energy also eased from 2.9% to 2.6%.
Despite the moderation, inflation remains above the Bank of Japan's 2% target, supporting the possibility of further monetary tightening. Tokyo's figures are closely watched as an early indicator of nationwide inflation and remain relevant for the yen and Japanese government bonds.
