Trump: Talks with Iran are progressing positively
U.S. President Donald Trump stated that talks with Iran are progressing positively and that diplomatic discussions have been ongoing for some time.
Speaking to reporters at the White House before departing for Florida, Trump said significant progress had been made regarding Iran. He also stated that no American soldiers had been killed in the past six to seven months and that progress had been achieved in keeping the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global oil shipments, open.
Trump's remarks came amid ongoing diplomatic efforts to ease tensions between the United States and Iran. The U.S. president had previously linked Republican losses in the November 3 midterm elections to the war with Iran and the rising cost of living caused by the conflict. Signals of progress in negotiations with Iran remain important for global energy supplies and oil prices, although no comprehensive agreement has yet been announced between the two sides.
