Trump calls war with Iran one of his best decisions
US President Donald Trump said he has no regrets about his decision to go to war with Iran, describing it as one of the best decisions made by his administration.
Speaking to reporters ahead of an election rally in South Carolina, Trump stated that the primary objective of the war was to prevent Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons. He claimed that Iran would have developed and used a nuclear weapon if the United States had not intervened militarily.
Trump also commented on the war between Russia and Ukraine, saying that negotiations with Moscow were progressing positively and that the two sides could be closer to reaching an agreement than they have been in a long time. He argued that sanctions against Russia could negatively affect the negotiation process and confirmed that contacts with Russian President Vladimir Putin were ongoing. Trump also expressed satisfaction that Moscow had largely refrained from becoming involved in the war with Iran.
