Trump and Putin reach diesel supply deal
US President Donald Trump announced following talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin that Russia would supply millions of tons of diesel fuel to the United States and global markets.
Trump said the agreement would initially involve more than 300,000 tons of diesel, followed by shipments of 500,000 tons in November and an additional 1 million tons afterward. He added that Russia could supply another 3 million tons in the near term, depending on its refining capacity.
Trump claimed the agreement would rapidly reduce global diesel prices, emphasizing efforts to lower fuel costs for farmers and the transportation sector. Putin also confirmed Russia's readiness to supply oil and petroleum products to the US and international markets. The two leaders discussed developments in Ukraine and Iran during their meeting, while investors continue to monitor the shipment schedule and the agreement's potential impact on energy prices.
