Trump unveils $200 billion energy plan
US President Donald Trump announced plans for up to $200 billion in energy investments in the United States as part of a trade agreement with South Korea.
The projects announced by Trump include a 6-gigawatt power generation facility in Texas, eight large-scale nuclear power plants and the Alaska LNG project. The projects fall under the $200 billion strategic investment portion of South Korea’s previously pledged $350 billion investment package with the US.
However, final investment decisions have not yet been made for all of the announced projects. The South Korean government said no decision has been reached on whether to invest in the approximately $54 billion Alaska LNG project or on the size of any potential investment, adding that the project’s commercial and legal terms will be evaluated. A $22.3 billion natural gas power plant in Texas was the first project selected under South Korea’s investment program.
