Türkiye needs over $500 billion for green transition
Bain & Company estimates that Türkiye will need more than $500 billion in investment to achieve its net-zero emissions target by 2053.
According to the consulting firm's assessment, transforming the energy, industrial, and transportation sectors will be critical to reducing the country's carbon emissions and achieving its sustainable growth objectives.
The report shows that renewable energy accounts for 62% of Türkiye's total installed electricity generation capacity but contributes only 43% of actual electricity production. Of the required investment, an estimated $210–270 billion would be allocated to the energy sector, $80–200 billion to buildings, $70–80 billion to industry, and $35–50 billion to road transportation. Bain & Company identified access to financing, carbon pricing, and energy costs as the main challenges facing Türkiye's green transition.
