AI data centre financing faces pressure
A Reuters analysis published on October 15 at 12:43 UTC found that higher borrowing costs and the technology stock selloff are complicating financing plans for AI data centre developers.
Planned listings involving AirTrunk, Firmus and SB Energy have been delayed or paused. Meanwhile, Asian data centre mergers and acquisitions have reached $21.3 billion this year, compared with $10 billion for all of 2025. Syndicated loans and bond issuance totalled $22.3 billion.
The developments indicate that investors are placing greater emphasis on cash flow, leverage and long-term customer contracts rather than growth projections alone. Elevated financing costs could put further pressure on valuations, particularly for highly indebted infrastructure developers.
