Foreign investors sell stocks, buy bonds
According to weekly securities statistics released by the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (CBRT), foreign investors recorded net equity sales of $248.2 million in the week ending October 9.
This marked the second consecutive week of foreign selling on Borsa Istanbul, following net stock sales of $189.9 million in the previous week.
While foreign investors continued to sell equities, they returned to the bond market as buyers. After three consecutive weeks of bond sales, non-resident investors purchased a net $446 million worth of Turkish bonds during the week ending October 9. The figures indicate that foreign investors are shifting their preference from equities toward debt securities among Turkish lira-denominated assets.
